Rick Monday Model Spalding Glove

by JoeMagennis on May 5, 2008

This baseballism is about a guy who has never left his Rick Monday Model, Spalding 42.3235 Baseball Glove behind. For 33 plus years it has been his trusty sidekick in any pickup game that may have come along.

  • Coach Mike
I, too, bought a Rick Monday model glove in the early 70s. I was playing fast-pitch softball (back when men still played that), and liked the big pocket and the see-through webbing. I have used it over the years, and now I'm coaching my son in the local Babe Ruth league. After he tried a few new gloves, he used mine in practice last year and has used it ever since. Even though he's not Brooks Robinson, he makes plays that would make any dad stand up and say "That's my glove - oh, and that's my boy, too."
  • Coach Mike .. That's great! I love that your glove has been passed along to your son and it's still "in the game!" That's the kind of stuff that we love to hear around here ..
