  • Hey JB .. I know what you say! Looking back on all of those championship years, the number of (or lack of ) World Series rings seem to hang on a few simple unorthodox twists. Herbie's claim to fame of a forceful removal of Ron Gant from first base is one of the most memorable.

    Others have to include Lonnie Smith's baserunning issues, Jim Leyritz's home run off Mark Wohlers, even more recent stuff like Joey Devine giving up a homerun in the 18th inning of the NLDS in Houston.
